This is what you will learn

In this workshop you will learn how to think of and realize real improvements in a structured and creative way.

We cover the six steps of Kaizen: 1) Identify improvement opportunities, 2) Analyze the current standard, 3) Come up with original ideas, 4) Come up with a proposal, 5) Implement the proposal, 6) Evaluate the new standard

We do this based on one or more concrete issues from your own organization.

Program day 1

In this workshop, on day 1 we will cover the introduction to Kaizen and go through steps 1 and 2. The second step involves analyzing the current standard. Techniques used in this process include the following:

  • Process Study Sheet to dissect the work into its components
  • Operator Balance Chart to contrast operator cycle times with branch time
  • Process Capacity Sheet to find out actual machine cycle times
  • Machine Balance Chart to plot machine cycle times against branch time
  • Standardized Work Chart to map physical location of activities
  • Standardized Work Combination Table to understand human-machine interaction
  • Therblig Analysis Sheet to dissect individual movements
Program Day 2

On day 2, we cover steps 3 through 6. The third step of kaizen is all about combining again, but differently, the elements of work that Step 2 exposed. Creative techniques used in this process include the following:

  • ECRS
  • Osborn's checklist
  • Rules of motion economy
  • Brainstorming
  • Hundreds of rules of thumb and best practices from Toyota
  • TRIZ
  • Therblig Analysis Sheet to dissect individual movements
Or would you rather have a Kaizen Event?

As opposed to a workshop that teaches you more about how to perform a Kaizen, you can also choose to be guided by us in performing a

Kaizen Event or Kaizen improvement week. In that case we will guide and coach you and your team during one or more Kaizens you will perform in your organization. Read more about Kaizen Events.
