Radboudumc's OR logistics have received a major boost from Lean Green Belt training.
The manager of OK logistics, Rudow Buitenhuis, is really working on continuous improvement. The results don't lie. He sees Lean Green Belts as a choice for craftsmanship, chain thinking and taking a step forward every day. In healthcare logistics, he says, especially within the OR, standing still is not an option.
The results of the projects done within the team are bearing fruit immediately. One A3 improvement project resulted in 96% less rework and 156 hours of time saved per year. The other project focused on Imperfection Closet & Set Layout (IKS).
An ABC-driven approach to optimize the assortment per specialty using data resulted in sanitation of the set file, reduced re-sterilization costs and space gains through more efficient use of square meters.
The impact: More space and more confidence in the service so that specialties can fully focus on what really matters: patient care.
