Managing to Learn in practice at a college
The teachers at Avans University of Applied Sciences were excited about our publication on working with A3s, Managing To Learn written by John Shook. Instead of the classic thesis, they wanted to test whether working with the A3 method would lead to better results. We guided the teachers by providing a Train-the-trainer on the A3 method and coaching/mentoring the students in it. The result was remarkable: not only did the students produce better work, the tutors were able to give good feedback to the students faster, and took the peak at the end of the semester out of their work. They did not have to read 70 theses only at the end but were well engaged earlier in the students' thinking process.
