Mid-level Lean Consultant

Mid-Level Lean s Consultant (Black Belt)

You have guided a number of “ Lean ” improvement initiatives in practice—either as a consultant or in an internal role—and you now want to help organizations that wish to implement “ Lean ” on a broader scale than just within a single department. As a “ Lean ” Consultant at the Lean Management Institute, you’ll assess how a client’s work processes operate, show management where opportunities for improvement lie, and guide the change process until results are visible.

What are you going to do?

You work for organizations in sectors such as manufacturing, food and agriculture, construction, software, automotive, and government. One week you might be mapping out the value stream at a manufacturing company; the next week, you might be discussing with a municipal management team which improvements should be prioritized. Client requests vary widely, so you always choose the “ Lean ” approach that best fits the issue at hand.

  • You analyze processes using methods such as value stream mapping and a maturity assessment, and you identify opportunities for improvement.
  • You translate that analysis into recommendations for improvement and an approach that suits the organization.
  • You will lead improvement initiatives and Kaizen events, and ensure that teams are able to sustain the new way of working on their own.
  • You coach managers and teams on the job, for example during daily kick-off meetings, visual management, and problem-solving using the A3 method.
  • You serve as a liaison between the shop floor and management, and you act as a sounding board for managers.
  • You'll help brainstorm ideas for new projects.
  • In addition to your consulting work, you lead “ Lean ” training sessions, both in-company and as part of our open courses.

What should you bring?

  • At least 3 years of practical experience with “ Lean ” improvement initiatives, either as a consultant or in an in-house role, such as a CI specialist or “ Lean ” coordinator. A Lean Green Belt or Lean Black Belt certification is preferred.
  • A higher vocational education (HBO+) level of thinking and work.
  • You thoroughly analyze a problem and clearly explain the results to both the production team and the management team.
  • You work independently on your assignments and reach out to colleagues to bounce ideas off them.
  • Experience in more than one industry is a plus.
  • You speak and write Dutch and English fluently; knowledge of German is a plus.

What the LMI Offers You

  • An excellent, competitive salary (€4,500 to €8,500 gross per month), depending on your experience, and comprehensive benefits, such as 25 days of vacation, a company car, a company laptop, a company phone, a bonus plan, vacation pay, a Christmas gift basket, fun team outings, and so on.
  • You’ll grow by gaining experience in various (large) organizations through a range of assignments. In addition, you’ll continue to learn by participating in training programs and gaining insights from colleagues in the Lean Global Network.
  • An opportunity to help develop our approach and our (online) teaching materials, and to put your business skills to work.
  • Responsibility for your own assignments, with the freedom to choose your own approach.
  • Highly qualified colleagues: All your coworkers have a Black Belt or Master Black Belt . Once every two weeks, you’ll meet with the team for project meetings, professional development, and team-building activities.
  • Opportunities for assignments abroad if you have international ambitions, working alongside colleagues from the Lean Global Network.
  • A workspace in a beautiful historic building in the wooded area around Zeist.
